INTERNATIONAL BRAZILIAN LUTA LIVRE FEDERATION

Brazilian Luta Livre is much more than a fighting style; It's a martial art. Furthermore, it has its Founder of the technical revolution and the Father of its evolution.

Not only does it meet all the requirements to be one, but it is a modern martial art that unites east and west like no other did.

Their techniques come from Judo and ancient Japanese Ju Jitsu, they are combined with ancient wrestling from the times of Greece and Rome and all of them were the beginning of a development and birth of many other techniques whose result happened in Brazil.

Therefore it combines the best of east and west as well as combining the ancient world with the modern.

THE FOUNDER

We call the “Founder” of Brazilian Luta Livre the Grand Master Roberto Leitão, who was responsible for taking the techniques of the ancient Luta Lirve and bringing them to a level of complexity and effectiveness that marked a before and after in the technical evolution of our martial art. For this reason, we do not call him founder trying to ignore his predecessors but to describe that he was the one who founded the technical revolution of Brazilian Luta Livre.

THE FATHER

On the other hand, we call the “Father” of Brazilian Luta Livre the only and undisputed Grand Master João Ricardo who from his mythical Budokan Academy taught generations of practitioners, being, in addition, a great precursor of our martial art from different aspects such as participating himself of Vale Tudo combats, organizing Luta Livre tournaments, forming great Vale Tudo and Grappling champions and carrying the flag of our martial art to the top both in Brazil and Japan. He was the great precursor of Brazilian Luta Livre, the undisputed greatest authority on activity and one of the greatest and most important names in the history of this martial art.
